Osprey Atmos 25 Pack (Fall 2006)
Osprey Atmos 25 Pack (Fall 2006)

For the absolute minimalist the Osprey Atmos 25 Pack by Osprey provides ample features in a small package. The all-new Atmos Series addresses the ultralight revolution as only Osprey could - with a suspension that really carries weight - and fabrics and materials that will realistically stand up to the rigors of use. The AirSpeed suspension sets the Atmos Series above all other ultralight packs. The Atmos frame is 6005-T6 alloy aluminum with two 6 in. x 5mm fiberglass struts providing flex in the middle. Unlike other mesh tensioned backpanels that are simply flat panels suspended from 4 tensioned corners of an X-frame - this panel is 3D contoured. Additionally - there is a lumbar contour at the bottom and the backpanel follows a back curvature. All contact surfaces are either breathable mesh or perforated - molded waffle foam. The backpanel supports the load well because it is under drum-like tension. When wearing the pack - rather than compressing the load with comp straps at the hips - the back sinks evenly into the lumbar area providing comfortable uniform pressure with no hot spots. With durable 210D fabrics and a weight range of 1 lb. - 15 oz to 2 lb. - 13 oz. these packs are both light and strong. Two quick release web straps at the top end of the inside of the backpanel provide attachment for your hydration bladder. These straps slide on the aluminum tubing at the top and can be positioned on center or two hole connection points. A central exit for the hydration tube allows routing to either the right or left shoulder strap. The hipbelt and shoulder pads are a waffle molded EVA with perforations. This allows for minimal surface contact and superb ventilation. The hipbelt has a mesh zippered pocket on each side for quick access to energy gel and the like. On the front of the pack - you'll find stretch woven lycra front and side pockets and welded water resistant zippers. Specifications Small: Volume cu.in./liters: 1400/23. Medium: Volume cu.in./liters: 1500/25. Weight: 2lbs3ozs/0.99 kgs. Large: Volume cu.in./liters: 1600/27. Great MENS PACKS. As with most North Face stuff I feel like it is very expensive until I put it to use. This jacket is much warmer than I expected. Very comfortable too. Not too bad with the LADIES either.
